b) As
a TRAINER:
 |
I have continuously been participating in the training
Schemes of the specialist-trainees who belong to the 1st Dept. of Surgery of
the "424 AGTH" since 1999. My contribution consists of clinical,
in-practice training in Operative Techniques as well as training in both preop
& postop management of thoracic surgical patiets either in
selective / scheduled admissions or in emergencies (trauma cases etc). |
 |
The "424 AGTH" is
by definition a hospital that puts
a great deal of Emphasis in Training (after all,
the hospital's initials "AGTH" stand for: Army General
Training Hospital). Training involves all personnel including
nursing staff, other health workers (such as stretcher-bearers
etc) and, of course, doctors, who are specialist-trainees, too.
The acquisition Experience as a trainer in this specific hospital
can, therefore, be appropriately appreciated. |
 |
I contributed to the regular continuing Medical
Education Programme within the Regional Thoracic Surgical Unit of the West
of Scotland, located inside the "Hairmyres" hospital since Feb 1995
till Aug 1996 by training the junior SHO doctors in Thoracic Surgery. I
also presented research papers at National (UK) Meetings
on that Unit's work on:
 |
the surgical treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma |
 |
long-term results with broncho-alveolar adenocarcinoma |
|
 |
Additionally, I took part as a trainer in the
under-graduate training of students of the Athens University School of
Medicine, who were allocated at the 2nd Teaching Dept. of Surgery inside
the "Laikon" hospital in Athens, Greece. |
 |
I acquired experience as a trainer because of my
duties as "Director of Training" of a Medical Corps Battalion
located in the borderland of Greek Sovereign territory for 1½ year
(Oct 1989 - Feb 1991). By exerting these duties I was responsible for
training Private-ranked soldiers into the military speciality of
"stretcher-bearers." I was also fully responsible for any kind of
Training of all military personnel of the Battalion. |
 |
I participated as an Invited Speaker
& Commentor in the
following Congresses:
 |
(1) Papachristos IC.
Chest Trauma. Invited
Speaker in the «Trauma: in-hospital
